The Black Diamond Ion is the brand's smallest AAA headlamp, sold as a just-in-case light for packs, glove boxes, tool bags and ultralight kits. Packaging states 100 lumens on high and 4 lumens on low, a 38 m beam at maximum and 6 m at minimum, and burn times of 6 hours on high out to 180 hours on low. Feature set printed on the carton is dimming, strobe, red LED and a lock mode that prevents the light switching on inside a pack. The Ion is rated IPX8 waterproof, described on the box as submersible to more than 1 m for 30 minutes. Total weight is printed as 55 g, made up of a 31 g lamp plus 24 g for the two AAA cells; two Duracell AAA batteries are included. The box carries a 3-year warranty statement, CE and RoHS marks, and Made in China. This unit is the Aluminum colorway, part number BD620627ALUMALL1, UPC 793661319610. Each piece is an individual sealed retail hanging card, so it needs no repackaging for shelf or pegboard display. Buyers for this item are outdoor and camping retailers, hardware and auto stores, emergency-preparedness and gift sellers, and online resellers who want a recognised climbing brand at an entry price point. Note that Black Diamond has discontinued the Ion, which makes remaining sealed stock a closeout rather than a replenishable line.
